January 27, 2022

As Koronadal aspires to become a garbage-free city, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City Enro) directs the 27 barangays to formulate a 5-year development plan for the Solid Waste Management Program (SWMP).

“Barangays plays the vital role so the city’s vision to reap the clean environment will be realized based on an expected time”, City Enro Augustus Bretaña said as he underlined the value of cooperation. He further explained that the concerned units must be serious in achieving the goals by seeking the help and collaboration of the purok and sitio communities.

Meanwhile, included in the 5-year development plan of each barangay are their mission and vision in line with the program which will serve as a guide for them whenever confusion arises.  While embodying in the strategies on waste reduction are programs and activities which they are going to execute along with information education campaigns and budget requirements.

So as not to cause burden and inconvenience to the barangay officials and community the said program will be implemented phase-by-phase within five (5) years from the start of its execution until the villagers become accustomed to it and become their way of life. Thus, its completion is expected in 2025 after it came into effect in 2021.
