Performing Barangays for Cleanest and Greenest Program, Receives Award
The performing barangays for the cleanest and greenest program have received an award from the city government of Koronadal. This is in line with the “Search for the Cleanest and Greenest Barangay 2019” spearheaded by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO). The said competition among 27 barangays has two (2) categories- the urban and the rural barangays.
During the awarding ceremony, Barangay Sto. Niño, reaped all awards after proclaimed as champion in Search for the Cleanest and Greenest Barangay in the urban category. It also won first place in Best Solid Waste Management (SWM) Model, Best barangay SWM Ordinances and Practices, Best Landscape, and Best in Social Participation.

1st Runner-Up: Zone I
2nd Runner-Up: Sta. Cruz

3rd Place – General Paulino Santos (GPS)
Best Landscaped

For rural category, Barangay Caloocan harvested the major award as the Cleanest and Greenest barangay while the first placer in Best barangay SWM ordinances and practices, and Best landscaped as well.
Barangay Concepcion, on the other hand, declared as first runner-up in the major award and Best in Social Participation while Barangay San Roque won 2nd runner-up.

The 2019 search for the Cleanest and Greenest Barangay is one (1) of the 10-point development agenda of Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena which aims to give due acknowledgment and incentives to barangays which have been actively contributing and participating the clean and green program of the local government of Koronadal. The award was given on 8th of October during the celebration of city’s charter anniversary.
City ENRO Head Augustus Bretaña expects that the barangays will continue to support assiduously to the said program even without competition.
