To declare a functional anti-drug abuse council the evaluators based their judgment on some parameters to include; BADAC Organizational Structure, Organize Auxiliary Team, Trainings and Capacity Building of the Punong Barangay and Members, Regular Conduct of Meeting and Submission of Reports, Compliance to CSAR, Intense of Advocacy and BADAC Action Plan.
Further, 24 barangays received a cash incentive amounting to 5,000 from the local government in complementing the government’s efforts in eradicating illegal drug problems in their localities.
On the other hand, the City of Koronadal joins the nation in the observance of the 2019 Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) week pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 124 declaring the 3rd Week of November of Every Year as drug abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) Week.
Bearing the theme, “Katarungan para sa Kalusugan, Kalusugan para sa Katarungan”, the celebration aims to make people aware of the dangers posed by Drug Abuse and to further strengthen their resolve to do their share in the fight against this menace.
During the kick-off ceremony, Guest Speaker PDEA XII Regional Director Naravy Duquiatan said in her speech, “Katarungan means, which is right, just, good and true and Kalusugan means healthy or good physical condition. Our theme depicts that we should do what is right and good for us to have a healthy and good physical condition and once we are healthy, this will give us a good life that we wanted to live. Alam natin ang epekto ng droga, alam natin na nakakasira ito sa ating utak that is why we are strengthening our advocacy campaign that you should not use illegal drugs because it can cause ill effects in our body”.
Meanwhile, City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) Action Officer Retired General Agustin Demaala also reported the council’s accomplishments in the areas of enforcement, advocacy, legal matters, and rehabilitation.
As the central government of the Philippines has converted local government units into the front line of the war on drugs, the celebration gears to promote public awareness against the ill effects of illegal drug use as well as encourage public cooperation in the government’s anti-drug campaign.
