Evaluation for Community Garden and Gulayan sa Ugsaran is underway
The yearly evaluation for a Community Garden and Gulayan sa Ugsaran is underway and has been started a week ago.
Assistant Nutrition Dietitian Marilou Lanoy of City Nutrition said, out of 27 barangays in the City of Koronadal, 21 of them participated in this year’s evaluation. This includes Mabini, Esperanza, Cacub, Rotonda, Mambucal, Sta. Cruz, Saravia, Carpenter Hill, Zone I, Zone IV, Morales, Avanceña, Caloocan, Gen. Paulino Santos, New Pangasinan, Sto. Niño, Magsaysay, San Roque, and Concepcion.
Community Garden and Gulayan sa Ugsaran is one of the city’s programs with a competition component. Its purpose is to promote proper nutrition and organic food for the residents in the city.
Meanwhile, in conducting an evaluation, the following criteria have been observed are as follows:
- Variety of vegetables planted based on 3 basic food groups such as Go, Glo, and Grow and must be more 10 variety of vegetables planted – 50%
- The physical appearance of vegetables planted – 15%
- Application of organic fertilizer – 20%
- Location of the garden – 15%
- Total of 100%
The result of the said evaluation will be announced in December with the corresponding award. 1st place – php5,000
2nd place- php3,000
3rd place – php2,000
Consolation price – php500
The city nutrition is under the city population office headed by City Population Officer Nancy Adalin who is also a City Nutrition Action Officer designate.
