CSU conducts three-day Bomb Identification and Detection Seminar
The City Government of Koronadal spearheaded by the Civil Security Unit (CSU) held a three-day seminar on “Bomb Identification and Detection” at the City Hall Lobby on November 18-20, 2019.
In his welcome remarks during the opening program, CSU Chief Raul P. Miramon expressed his gratitude to the City Government for its support in conducting the seminar to protect and promote the safety and comfort of the citizens and their communities.
The said activity was participated by the members of the Civil Security Unit (CSU) and Barangay Peace Keeping Action Team of the City of Koronadal.
Additionally, the seminar aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to recognize and identify explosives, explosive materials and components used for Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) to prevent or minimize loss of life or damage to property and environment.
Showing his full cooperation, City Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena highlighted the necessity of prioritizing the safety and security of the city, especially being the Regional Center of Region XII, to do some initiative to ensure that possible terroristic activities can be prevented.
He also added that through trainings like these, it would help the security team to be more capacitated in identifying and detecting explosives and respond efficiently in cases of emergencies.
“This is a sort of augmentation. We need to augment our bomb experts in the city para na man mas secure tayo. So, sana itong seminar na ito marami kayong malalaman dito,” Mayor Ogena said.
The trainers of the three-day seminar who shared their expertise on bomb threat management were PSMS Roslee C. Mahawan, PSMS Joey P. Orayle, PSMg Antonio S. Azuelo Jr., PSSg Arvin Jay S. Aragon and PCLP Michael M. Ycon, police officers of Explosives and Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team who deals with bomb incidents in the entire region.
