DA Usec pushes Koronadal as PhilMech program recepient
The Department of Agriculture (DA) Usec Datu Samsamin Ampatuan is pushing the City of Koronadal as Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) program recipient. Usec Ampatuan, representative of DA Sec. William Dar during the formal opening of the 80th Founding Anniversary and 20th Hinugyaw Festival said that he will recommend to his higher official to extend PhilMech to the city to develop the latest state of the art farm equipment. What prompted his pronouncement are the bountiful agricultural products he has observed around like continuous expansion of fruit plantations, vegetables, and many others.
“On top of being the seat of regional offices of SOCSKSARGEN, the city showed it’s potential in producing various products,” Datu Samsamin said. Aside from the agriculture industry, the official also commended the growing numbers of technical schools offering welding courses, ironworks, metal sets and more that could develop into the agri-mechanization industry. He also considered the city as agri-mechanization capital of the province of South Cotabato because of various farming equipment that can be purchased here.
Usec Datu Samsamin has high regard since Koronadal had been agriculturally productive at 80s. Meanwhile, as he wanted to push the city as a recipient of PhilMech extention, he assured that their office will work on the said proposal. As Usec, he will take charge of the regulatory portfolio and see to it that would reciprocate the hard work and enthusiasm of the chief executive’s effort in terms of technology modernization.
Meanwhile, Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong Go” extended his congratulatory message through his representative South Cotabato 2nd District Cong. Ferdinand Hernandez. He also appealed to the people of Koronadal to continue to support the program of the national government in combatting against illegal drugs, criminalities, and corruption.
Bong Go also assured the people that his office is open to those who need help especially those victims of the calamity. He wanted to be the voice of the people as well.
The senator also takes pride in recalling the laws that he had passed and signed by the president. This includes the establishment of “Malasakit Center” where there is a conglomeration of Philhealth, Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO). Other measures include the postponement of Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) election to give them ample time to implement good programs, and the other one is the salary increase for the civilian government employees.
