Mayor Ogena: Settlers’ strong unity towards progress
City Mayor Eliordo Ogena is continuously calling to the pioneer settlers to unite towards more and big progress in the city of Koronadal.
Speaking before the Marbel Pioneer Settlers/Dugong Pioneer Settlers ng Koronadal during “Gabi ng Pasasalamat,” the chief executive cited a few examples that flaunted perdure progress. He proudly mentions about city’s 2019 national awards in disaster preparedness wherein San Lorenzo Ruiz Day Care Center garnered first place in Child Learning Center Category while Marbel 1 elementary school pocketed second place for public school elementary school level and being declared as a national finalist in terms of the most business-friendly for component city category.
Such commendable recognitions, Ogena said are indicators of how Koronadal has gone so far in terms of progress and will continue to move forward towards growth that benefits everyone especially the marginalized sector. He further said that he didn’t see any reason for the city not able to achieve development because he believes there’s no other way for the Koronadal to go but to grow bigger and bigger every year.
Currently, the city is considered as one of the venues for large gatherings. The mayor cited the possible convention of a religious group wherein around 600 individuals will be coming to the city by March. Meanwhile, Mayor Ogena’s dream is to give more opportunities for Koronadaleños to stay in the city rather than working somewhere and this will only be possible if we have sufficient and sustaining economic growth.
The pioneer settlers’ night dubbed as “Gabi ng Pasasalamat,” was held on January 8, as part of this year’s 80th Founding Anniversary and Hinugyaw Festival 2020.
