Koronadal is nCov-free
“There is nothing to fear from novel coronavirus (nCov) because Koronadal is still nCov-free and close monitoring is being implemented throughout the city,” acting City Health Officer Dr. Edito Vego said amidst nCov invasion across the world. Furthermore, there is no necessity in using surgical face masks as the said virus will not directly infect everyone. Dr.Vego clarifies this statement after surgical face masks are running out of supply both in local and national stores in the country.
According to Dr. Vego, a strong immune system will help our bodies fight against the virus. He even compares the intensity of nCov with the dengue strain, in which the latter left a high fatality rate last year. He further states that viruses can be destroyed by doing simple, hygienic procedures.
Steps include the following:
Washing hands using water and soap or sanitizer with not less than 70% alcohol content;
Cover your mouth and nose when sneezing;
Stay away from sick people or refrain from going out of your houses if you are sick;
Avoid crowded places, and;
Consult the nearest health facility if symptoms manifest such as fever, cough, and difficulty in breathing.
In addition to Dr. Vego’s statement, a surgical face mask is advisable to use if one exhibits respiratory ailments or is upon advice by the physician. However, the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS cov) are not different from the Novel Corona Virus (nCov) as Dr. Vego recalls.
