Criteria set for barangays’ race to 3 million pot prize
Barangay captains and representatives meet up to agree on the criteria for judging as they race for the coveted Best Performing Barangay with the reward of 3 million pesos as part of the city’s Barangay Empowerment Program, which affirms that transformation must be initiated in every barangay at the forefront of service delivery.
The said program fulfills one of the 10-point development agenda of the local chief executive: Masigasig na Kaakibat ng mga Barangay at Tunay na Kaibigan ng mga Sitio at Purok.
The criteria is based on four core components: 1) Aid to Component Barangays, 2) Assistance to Purok/Sitio Presidents, 3) Assistance to Puroks and Sitios, and 4) Search for the Best Performing Barangay.
The criteria are as follows:
Core Area 1: Brgy. Clean, Green and Beautification – 25%
Core Area 2: Community Mobilization/Participation– 20%
Core Area 3: Lighting of Streets and Public Places– 15%
Core Area 4: Financial Management– 10%
Core Area 5: Health and Nutrition Program– 10%
Core Area 6: Community – Based Best Practices– 10%
Core Area 7: Disaster Risk Reduction Management– 10%
Assessment will be done quarterly and the final rating will be the average of the four quarter ratings not less than 75% to be awarded during the city’s foundation anniversary the following year.
Mayor Ogena in a statement hopes this program motivates the barangays to move towards the vision of the new administration. “Under the law, may supervision ang LGU sa barangay, we cannot dictate but we can influence... Updan niyo kami kung gusto niyo magdaog. Madamo gid nga salamat.”
