Koronadal athletes receive early cash incentives and allowances
The city government of Koronadal has immediately released the 1.8 and 1.4 million pesos for cash incentives and allowances respectively. A total of 3.2 million pesos from the Special Education Fund were distributed to the city’s athletes who participated in the just concluded 7th Soccsksargen Regional Athletic Association (SRAA) Meet held in General Santos City.
Department of Education (DepEd) Sports Supervisor Koronadal City Division Napoleon Cumicho explained that the amount of incentives given to athletes depends on the category and the number of medals they garnered. The following amount is as follows:
Gold medal – Php5, 000
Silver medal – Php2, 000
Bronze medal – Php1, 000
City Mayor Eliordo Ogena ordered the advance disposal of the said incentive to motivate athletes to strive more for success. The release was done through City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) a day before the closing program. In addition, they were also provided a complete set of uniform including backpack and allowances were also given to coaches and chaperons.
During the opening program, DepEd Usec for Curriculum and Instruction, Diosdado M. San Antonio as keynote speaker extended his gratitude to all LGUs for the untiring support to the department. With the support from the LGUs he continued to appeal for assistance regarding the implementation of DepEd’s new program. San Antonio emphasized that starting June, teachers must focus on the so-called growth mindset for the learners wherein teachers and young learners are not allowed to be interrupted by conferences and any major celebration during the first nine (9) weeks of every quarter.
DepEd Koronadal City Division landed as fourth place in an overall medal standing as the sporting event concluded.
