CHO, urges households and other agencies to perform regular disinfection
The City Health Office (CHO) is now urging every household, government institutions and private sectors in the city to perform regular disinfection in their respective territories to combat the coronavirus (covid-19) pandemic.
According to OIC-City Health Officer Dr. Edito Vego that disinfection has a vital role to make the whole things clean through the use of agents that has the ability to destroy harmful microorganisms.
The call for disinfection was pushed after two provinces in SOCCSKSARGEN has recorded positive cases of covid-19 specifically in the Municipality of T’boli, South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat. In a meeting with City Mayor Eliordo Ogena and 27 barangay captains, Dr. Vego said that despite the number of Person Under Monitoring (PUM) in the city had dropped and those considered Person Under Investigation (PUI) remained negative up to this date, there is still a need for precautionary measures as part of the city’s preventive strategies to contain the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19.
Currently, the CHO is now in full swing implementation in terms of conducting regular disinfection at major city public areas under the supervision of the Sanitary Inspectors (SI). The latter is a nightly activity of the Local Government Unit (LGU) Koronadal as part of its intensive campaign in light of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.
The public integrated terminal, churches, yellow bus line Inc. terminal, satellite market situated at China town and public market are among the public places of concentration of the city’s cleaning and disinfection efforts.
Aside from sanitary inspectors, the Koronadal City Fire Station (KCFS) headed by City Fire Marshal F/Cinsp Eddie W. Tanawan also performed the same activities. They cleaned all their facilities such as firetrucks, ambulance and also places adjacent to their station.
While Dr. Vego is pushing the importance of sanitization, he explained that their office can accommodate clients through requests due to lack of manpower and in order to speed up the work, he urged the establishments and households to take initiative in terms of sanitizing and disinfecting their premises. To ensure the correct ratio in the use of disinfectant, the sanitary inspector recommends using 10ml Lysol or Zonrox in every 1 liter of water.
Based on the CHO record, the city government already delivered their disinfection services to Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region XII, Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), Department of Health (DOH) Region XII, Koronadal Southern Elementary School (Chinese school), Koronadal Central Elementary School, Nelmida Elementary School, and churches.
On the other hand, as part of the intense security safeguarding efforts against the current pandemic, Mayor Ogena already requested 10 improvised misting machines to be installed in all quarantine checkpoints in the city, as well as in malls where there is often a long line of consumers.
The mayor also extended his gratitude to Koronadal National Comprehensive High School (KNCHS) for contributing significantly to the creation of the misting machine. Further, the thermal scanner purchased by the city lgu was already delivered and had been distributed to the 27 barangays. The said equipment will be used to determine the temperature of every person passing through the barangay checkpoints.
