DSWD sets payout for SocPen beneficiaries
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) sets out to distribute benefits on May 21-22 for its Social Pension (SocPen) program to augment the needs of the qualified indigent senior citizens amid coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
Eligible indigent beneficiaries from the 27 barangays of the city tallying to 11,032 are expected to receive the P57,534,000 worth of assistance.
Apart from the pensioners who would be getting their advance pension for six months amounting to P3,000 for year 2020 , there will also be 4,073 elderlies who will receive their delayed grants from last year’s budget amounting to P6,000.
As per the process flow, the dispense of cash payouts will be given directly to the senior citizen beneficiaries through the Special Disbursing Officers (SDO) from the City Treasurer’s Office.
The said distribution will require senior citizens to present the following proof:
(a) If personal appearance, one (1) original senior citizen’s ID and a photocopy with three (3) specimen signatures.
(b) In case of a senior citizen’s on lockdown, one (1) written certification, barangay certification with the signature of C/MSWD Officer & OSCA Head, Photocopy of ID with three (3) specimen signatures, picture of a senior citizen with the May 2020 calendar at the background shall be presented.
SocPen is a program under Republic Act No. 9994 or the “Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010” which is distributed on a semestral basis at P3,000 per semester or P500 per month for six months.
