City LGU opens isolation facility
The City Local Government Unit (LGU) of Koronadal had opened one (1) isolation facility constructed at OLPS seminary, Brgy. Sto. Nino.
The isolation facilities will serve as a temporary shelter for symptomatic returnees who are experiencing mild symptoms like cough, fever, and cold but not consider severe conditions. This is for the purpose of containing the spread of the virus. Further, the said containment area has complete lavatory facilities and with good ventilation that caters both male and female patients in separate accommodation.
On the other hand, as the city continually prepares, the soft opening of the facility has been conducted and attended by Koronadal City Mayor Eliordo Ogena, together with his cabinet members. Fr. Salvador Leyso blessed the facility and offered prayers.
Before the opening, the Department of Health (DOH) XII, conducted monitoring for the second time to check whether the facility has met the standard set by the agency. Among the recommendations given by DOH XII Development Management Officer IV Bernardo Castino are as follows:
Every patient must have their room accommodation and comfort room as much as possible;
Installation of handwashing area at the entrance of the facility;
Additional portalette and lavatories;
Implementation of food protocol wherein foods will be served through disposable non-plastic containers;
Sending clothes for washing even to their family is prohibited to avoid contamination;
Consideration of good ventilation, and
Installation of internet connection that would help the patient maintain psychological well-being.
Meanwhile, Dr. Vego will continue to lead the preparation for the DOH XII another round of inspection for them to check if their recommendations were followed. Further, Castino explained that their monitoring standard and protocols was based on the joint Administration Order (AO) of DOH and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Isolation facility situated at OLPS seminary is just one (1) among the three (3) facilities constructed by the city lgu.
