LGU Kor grants additional allowance for teachers
On top of the salaries and allowances given to teachers by the Department of Education, the Local Government Unit of Koronadal will grant an additional allowance for public school teachers.
Koronadal City Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena has given his assent to the ordinance which puts into effect a P200 increase to the P300 monthly allowance of all entitled DepEd Teaching and Non-Teaching Personnel in the city.
City Councilor Prechie Louella B. Ogoy authored the Ordinance No. 13, Series of 2020 to amend the Ordinance No. 07, Series of 2002 which set to provide an appropriation of Five Hundred Pesos (P500.00) monthly or Six Thousand (P6,000) annual cash allowance to teachers under the City Schools Division.
” The increase in monthly cash allowance of 500.00 to public elementary and secondary teachers and non-teaching personnel of Koronadal City has been approved last May 12, 2020 by the Sangguniang Panlungsod. This is in recognition of their hardwork and relentless dedication in shaping the future of our society.”, City Councilor Ogoy said.
The Ordinance, taking note of the important contribution of the teachers in nation building and development and strengthening the education system states that the grant is a way of recognizing the latter’s remarkable contribution. Moreover, the said initiative is geared to address the present plight and enduring clamor of the unsung heroes for salary increase, with the end of providing a much-improved quality of living and restore the intrinsic value and fervor for the world’s noblest profession.
Section 3 of the Ordinance lays down the provisions for the guidelines and requirements. The rule provides that the City Mayor shall include in the Executive Budget for the ensuing fiscal year the full amount of the said grant and shall be taken from the City Government’s Annual Budget and/or supplemental appropriation.
Meanwhile, City Mayor Ogena acclaimed the strong leadership of School Division Superintendent Crispin A. Soliven,CESE who is so passionate in supporting the government’s efforts toward strengthening the system of education in the city.
