Blok Creek revitalization in full swing
Streambanks of Blok Creek in Koronadal will soon be filled with flowering plants, benches, and landscaped esplanades as the city government continues to execute its roadside beautification projects for 2020.
In a meeting conducted by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) with captains of the 27 barangays, they identified the actions to be taken in securing the area to be repurposed and planned to make necessary negotiation with the occupants that will be affected by the construction.
The city government with DENR XII and DPWH XII plans to start the construction within the month, starting from the Roundball area extending to the barangays traversed by the creek.
In a separate statement, City Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena assures that the beautification projects will not be hampered despite the LGU’s split attention to mitigating and preventing the COVID-19 virus sweeping across the country.
“If not for the delay caused by the pandemic, the beautification projects could’ve been in full swing right now,” said City Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena in a separate statement.
As part of the beautification program, infrastructure projects in the city are once again in motion, including the improvements in Rizal Park, new public market building, and switching from incandescent streetlights to energy-saving LED lights.
