SPES beneficiaries off to work in July
A total of 140 qualified students hired by the city government through the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) are expected to start work on July 6.
According to Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Bernardo Taperla, the office has allotted 175 slots for SPES beneficiaries. However, it was being differed to 140 because of budgetary constraint and pending implementation caused by COVID-19.
“Para naman sa mga pending na application, by next year na sila ma-implement. May naiwan pa naman na pondo by December may SPES pa,” PESO Manager stated.
Each student will have a daily salary rate of P426.95 or a total of P8,539 for the 20-day period, who will also be assigned to work in selected city hall offices and even in their respective barangays.
Taperla added that the 60 percent salary counterpart of the city is P256.17 daily while the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will have to shoulder the remaining 40 percent of the salary.
The recipients are obliged to report every week at the PESO office together with their Daily Time Record (DTR) and accomplishment report.
Further, Taperla said that for those who have not yet applied, they may directly approach their respective Community Officers (CO) or visit the Community Affairs Office (CAO) at the New City Hall.
The last call for SPES application is on Friday, June 26.
