700 rice farmers in Koronadal get gov’t cash aid
Some 700 rice farmers in Koronadal have received P5,000 cash assistance from the government amid the global health crisis.
Under the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA) Program, the Department of Agriculture (DA) XII in coordination with the City Agriculture’s Office released cash aid to rice farmers affected by the low buying price of palay.
Initially, DA has paid out P3.5 million to 700 farmer-beneficiaries tilling farms with up to two hectares in the City of Koronadal.
The said program is also a part of the DA’s initiative to provide support by incentivizing small rice farmers affected by the Rice Tariffication Law (RTL).
RFFA/RSBSA Focal Person, Janet Fernandez emphasized that this is just one of the interventions from their agency. She further said that they are offering diverse assistance for palay farmers, to include; Rice Resiliency Project (RRP), “Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat” (ALPAS) Program, and other major programs.
On the other hand, Fernandez also urged farmers to enlist and update their records in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) to avail the aforementioned subsidy programs.
Upon receipt, the qualified recipient will be given a Notice of Grant, in partnership with Landbank of the Philippines and MLhuillier, wherein the Kwarta Padala Transaction Number (KPTN) is attached.
The financial release of assistance was done yesterday, June 30 at Demo Farm, Brgy. GPS.
