CPOC-CADAC, Returns for Normal Business
Though the coronavirus remains a serious threat, the City Peace and Order Council and City Anti-Drug Abuse Council resumed normal business to undertake measures in maintaining and addressing the peace and order situation in the city level.
City Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena presided the June 30 council meeting and gave some insights on how to implement preventive measures against the threats in the people’s health security after the lifting of the clustered movement pass.
Plt Col Joefel F. Siason, Koronadal Chief of Police, apprised members of the city’s peace and order situation. He also presented the 2020 second quarter Accomplishment Report and the current station strategies for its anti-criminality campaign.
“The peace and order situation of the city remain peaceful for the period as a result of relentless peace and order campaign conducted by KCPS in coordination and with the active support of the local government, non-government organizations, other law enforcement agencies and the populace. However, criminality and terrorism still possess threats to public safety and security in the area of responsibility”, Col. Siason said.
In the same gathering, 2Lt Jerome M. Axalan Company Commander of the 5th Special Forces Batallion of the Philippine Army presented the 2nd quarter Accomplishment Report of the Task Group Koronadal including their Internal Security Operation (ISO). Lt Axalan said that they are presently monitoring a small terrorist armed group operating in their area of responsibility. Further, they want to ensure that military foot patrols will be more visible in some barangays in the city.
Meanwhile, City Fire Marshall F/CINSP Eddie W. Tanawan reported that their emergency responses dropped in the 2nd quarter. In response to the current crisis, Insp Tanawan said that some of their personnel have extended their role and gone beyond the firefighting. In preparation for the risk testing for coronavirus disease, some of them underwent training on swab testing as well as the donning and doffing of personal protective gear. They also assisted the city government in disinfecting the thoroughfares as well as the two isolation facilities prior to its opening.
Other matters discussed were issues related to illegal drugs, and the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) accomplishments. CADAC Action Officer Ret. General Agustin Dema-ala presented some updates on the Barangay Drug Clearing Program and urged the 27 barangays to earn the drug-cleared status.
On the other hand, OIC-City Health Officer Dr. Edito Vego briefed the members on the Covid-19 case management protocols including the process and guidelines on Covid-19 testing.
Also, an open forum was conducted towards the end of the meeting to discuss practical and related issues that the Barangay Captains are dealing with in their communities.
