City Vet suspends traditional house-to-house vaccination against rabies
The City Veterinary Office (City Vet) had temporarily suspended their traditional house-to-house anti-rabies vaccination and replaced it with another method by means of installing stations in the puroks.
City Veterinarian Dr. Charlemagne Calo said the action taken is geared to protect the vaccinators and pet owners against the covid-19 pandemic especially that there was already local transmission reported in the region.
Therefore, veterinarians call on all pet owners to provide support to adopt new normal strategies to successfully carry out anti-rabies campaign. The reason for making the call is that the turnout rate is poor due to difficulty in handling their pet and laziness in going to the venue.
Meanwhile, six (6) barangays have been completed since the anti-rabies vaccination was resumed. The focus of the program is on places that have not been visited by veterinary technicians last March after the temporary suspension due to the implementation of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
On the other hand, the City Vet has also set up a station in the old city hall to cater to the población area which is open from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. from Monday to Friday.
Calo also reminded those who want to avail of the program to always observe the minimum health requirements such as the proper wearing of face mask and face shield same through with the vaccinators.
