DILG’s road clearing directives to resume in Koronadal
In compliance with the national directive, the City Government of Koronadal is preparing for the resumption of road clearing operations on November 16, as mandated by DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2020-145.
It was first imposed with President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to “clear roads of illegal obstructions” last February 7, 2020, along with the respective guidelines and support mechanisms to conduct the said action.
This was delayed by the onslaught of COVID-19 pandemic, which diverted the government’s plans and efforts toward public health protection and economic recovery.
With the city public market as clearing priority, letters of notification were already sent to vendors and stall owners outside the public market, which are first to be affected by the operations.
The local government is open to the possible transfer of affected livelihood to Satellite Market, where further expansion of facilities are currently constructed to address the congestion of stalls in the main public market.
Aside from the public market, the City Market Office will also notify small stores or “talipapa” in every barangay found to be hit by the clearing operations.
LGUs nationwide has 60 days to comply this mandate and will be evaluated by the DILG on January 18-22, 2021.
