CBRP graduates receive livelihood assistance from city gov’t
Part of community interventions of the government’s persistent War on Drugs Campaign are granting livelihood assistance to rehabilitated PWUDs to get back on their own feet once they completed the Community Based Rehabilitation Program.
In the 4th Quarter Joint CPOC-CADAC Meeting, DILG-CLGOO Jennifer L. Fernandez noted that out of 27 barangays, 10 have submitted requirements to avail their PWUDs of livelihood startup fund. Those with larger PWUDs population were prioritized, namely Barangay Avancena, Zone II, Topland, GPS, and Zone III, among others.
Small livelihood projects were supported by CBRP such as balut selling, swine raising, sari-sari store, small talipapa, RTWs, a vulcanizing station, and food catering services.
“So, hindi lang kita nagahatag sang intervention para sa moral recovery, para sa health area but rather, nagahatag man kita sang mga livelihood projects”, Fernandez expressed.
Meanwhile, Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) in-charge PMSg. Ronald Delfin lauds Barangay Assumption for being a drug-cleared barangay with zero recorded surrenderees and is ready to file requirements to transition into a drug-free barangay.
When asked what’s the difference between ‘drug-free and ‘drug cleared’ in the context of BDCP, “ang drug-free, totally, wala na gid, ang drug cleared, may bilin pa gamay”, Delfin answered.
