City BFP, BJMP reports accomplishments on 4th Quarter Joint CPOC-CADAC Meeting
City Fire Marshall F/SINSP. Jonathan A. Gazo reported in detail the status and accomplishments of Koronadal Bureau of Fire Protection during the 4th Quarterly Meeting of Joint City Peace and Order Council – City Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
In his report, seven fire-related incidents were recorded from the month of October to December, which adds to the total of 38 fire incidents controlled for the year 2020.
Aside from fighting off fires and responding to emergencies, Koronadal BFP has launched several initiatives throughout the year, such as Oplan Ligtas Pamayanan – where fire officers go to barangays to remind them of fire safety and prevention; Oplan Iwas Paputok for urban areas in preparation for the holiday and New Year festivities, technical decontamination training to equip barangay kagawads and BPATS on safe donning and doffing of Personal Safety Equipment (PPEs), and webinars for Occupational Fire Safety.
On the other hand, City Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena pledged to source out funds to add smaller firetrucks for the BFP to easily reach communities with narrower roads in times of emergencies.
At the same time, City Jail Warden Teddy Uchi informed the council of updates from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. 67 Persons Deprived of Liberty are currently serving their sentence in jail – with 5 women and 62 men, the majority of their cases are linked to illegal drugs.
In addition to their new isolation cell that accommodates PDLs needing proper care and monitoring for COVID-19, BJMP also conducts book donation drives to help PDLs make use of time by reading and learning new knowledge.
