DOLE’s Project Angel Tree gives ‘pamasko’ to child workers in urban barangays
48 children enjoyed an afternoon of Christmas fun and games as the Department of Labor and Employment- South Cotabato gave away Christmas gifts and activities for selected children of urban center barangays in Koronadal – GPS, Zone II, and Zone III.
Project Angel Tree is a program spearheaded by DOLE to give aid to minors who are exposed to working conditions at an early age to support the family, to ease expenses for school, or ensure their own survival.
They received hygiene kits and supplies for school. Aside from the gift packs, the children enjoyed the parlor games, snacks, and cellphone raffle to escalate the thrill.
Project Angel Tree was launched in part of the celebration of 2020 National Children’s Month together with the support and funding from private establishments with the aim to end child labor under the Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program.
