City provides livelihood to rural women and farmers
Nine (9) groups of women and farmers from the rural barangays in the city benefitted from the local government’s livelihood program providing them with P500,000 worth of food processing tools and equipment to supplement and start up their own business.
According to Economic Consultant Rey Legaste, he plans to federate the said association to become an enterprise and eyes coordination and partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) by next year to back them up when it comes to quality control and product marketing.
Meanwhile, City Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena said that the pandemic is not an obstacle to deliver to its people the local government’s programs and services. The mayor also added that a budget worth P2 million has already been allocated as an additional capital funding for those locally funded livelihood projects that will thrive by 2021.
Further, the local government ultimately vows its support in providing skills training, sustainable employment and livelihood to various sectors in the city to make them productive and successful citizens.
The said activity slated on December 28 at Demo Farm, Barangay GPS was also attended by South Cotabato Vice Governor Vicente De Jesus and City Councilor Bernardo Hinay.
