CAgri tells farmers, fishers to enlist in RSBSA
City Agriculturist Emelita B. Miguel urges farmers and fisherfolks to sign up with the DA’s Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) to ensure that they receive government grants.
“Magkadto na kamo sa inyo nga mga barangay, agricultural technician o sa City Agri Office para magparehistro kay mag-abot ang panahon nga hindi na makahatag assistance kung wala nakarehistro,” Miguel said.
The RSBSA will serve as a slip for providing financial assistance, subsidiary funding and insurance services to farmers and fisherfolks, which the government will prioritize in targeting and implementing their respective projects.
On the other hand, the City Agriculture Office has an P8.9M allocated budget, excluding its infrastructure projects, for its programs and activities focusing on major commodities like palay and vegetables.
Aside from cash subsidy, CAgri also provides training, seminars and agricultural inputs and materials. They’re currently eyeing to have a Farmers’ Field School (FFS) training as a venue to equip farmers and farmworkers with knowledge of the latest agricultural technologies.
“Ang strategy subong ay FFS nga ga-training kag nagatanom usually from land preparation to harvesting. Nami ni nga venue kay ang farmers daw ga eskwela. They learn as they enjoy,” Miguel expressed.
The City Agriculture Office also has other programs that can benefit those in farming and fisheries. Some of them are the provision of agricultural supplies, palay marketing assistance, training in planting and harvesting rice, corn and vegetables, Fishery Program, Enterprise Development Program, Agribusiness, etc.,
At present, with the help of City Economic Consultant Rey Legaste, the office is working on a marketing strategy for the local farmers, fishers, and producers to have a “marketing arm” in the city.
