City gov gets tough on implementing safety protocol
The city government has stepped up the implementation of health and safety protocols in response to an increase in Covid-19 infections.
“Intensify the imposition of appropriate penalties on establishments that do not follow the health protocols enforced by the local government,” – Incident Management Team (IMT) members suggested to Incident Commander Dr. Edito T. Vego during a zoom meeting on April 22.
According to the IMT, there is a need for stricter enforcement of city ordinances, particularly the mandatory use of masks and face shields, as well as the observance of minimum health protocols in all city establishments. Furthermore, the government will increase the task force’s monitoring activities, particularly in inspecting open and enclosed public places, and will impose monetary penalties on establishments that violate the 50 percent capacity policy. The Office of the Business Permit and Licensing Division will also consider imposing closure on businesses found in violation; depending on the gravity of the offense, the business may be forced to close down. In the coming days, an Executive Order will be issued to support the new proposed guidelines.
Koronadal National Comprehensive High School (KNCHS), on the other hand, will be opened to serve as an additional isolation facility due to the city’s increasing number of Covid-19 cases. Individuals who meet local government standards and pass inspection will be permitted to be quarantined in their own homes.
Concerning the logistical requirements, the IMT will ensure that sufficient budget and manpower are allocated in preparation for the looming crisis, including additional workforce who will oversee and maintain the quarantine and isolation facilities in addition to City Health personnel.
The local government is warning residents not to be complacent, especially now that the new variants have been confirmed in the country.
