Koronadal’s first housing project starts its construction
The construction of 170 row-house type units will start immediately after the groundbreaking ceremony conducted recently.
The project is situated at Purok San Francisco, Barangay New Pangasinan and dubbed as Koronadal City Ville Resettlement Project. This city’s first resettlement site with a total land area of 28,684.00 square meters will construct an individual unit a lot size of 40.00 sq.m. and a floor plan of 24.70 sq.m.
The National Housing Authority (NHA) is the implementing agency of the said project with a contract duration of 600 calendar days and is expected to be finished on May 24, 2023.
As one of the guests of honor during the groundbreaking activity, Sec. Eduardo Del Rosario of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) undoubtedly expressed his full support the city’s housing program which he emphasized the right of every Filipino of buying and owning a decent housing unit regardless of their living state.
Del Rosario stated further that as their agency is mandated to build low-cost housing to accommodate low-income families especially those living in a danger zone, he guaranteed that they will build not only quality houses but also a real community. They have to provide a subdivision-like unit, decent yet affordable with complete facilities such as water, electricity and road accessibility.
With the help of the NHA, it allocated Php50,000,000.00 as a resettlement assistance program to the Local Government of Koronadal but the grantee will only pay Php25,000,000.00 on an instalment basis for 30 years. Aside from the above-mentioned program package, the said agency also committed an assistance for land development amounting to PHp20,000,000.00 which was already released to the city government.
NHA XII Regional Director Engr. Zenaida Cabilles has presented a synopsis of the project on how this was planned and eventually realized. She said that early 2017 their agency offered the project packaging for Koronadal City Ville but only in 2019 under the new administration was pushed through with the support and working initiative of South Cotabato 2nd District Congressman Ferdinand Hernandez.
In his message of appreciation to all concerned agencies, City Mayor Eliordo Ogena stated that this housing project is just the beginning. He said that his dream was for his homeless constituents to have their own homes for them to have dignity. “Providing low-cost housing to our citizens is no small goal and no easy task, but moving forward with participatory efforts, that encourage this building, not only of housing but also of communities, we’ll put a roof over people’s head and we will give them homes”, Mayor Ogena added.
Meanwhile, the process of identifying the recipients of this housing project has already been done with priority given to the affected families living in B’lok Creek and in danger zones.
Meantime, DHSUD XII RD Jennifer Bretaña reminded everyone to be cautious in buying land properties by doing transaction with the dealers accredited by their agency to avoid being a victim of fraud.
