Serbisyo Caravan delivers free gov’t services to IP’s in Koronadal
Hundreds of residents, particularly those belonging to the IP community of Barangay San Jose and nearby barangays, benefited from the provincial government’s Serbisyo Caravan on November 15.
The program aims to alleviate the lives of indigents in remote areas, in conjunction with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Health (DOH), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and other government agencies.
“It is a pleasure to host the ELCAC Serbisyo Caravan in our barangay, with that nakapagbigay ng serbisyo ang kapwa public service sa mga tao. The program itself helps people to check their health, especially now a day it is expensive to go to the doctor. Also they received seeds for their future livelihood, some of them plants the given seeds in their backyard (such as eggplant, pechay etc)”, Barangay Captain Danilo S. Simtim of Barangay San Jose said in an interview.
Through ELCAC, several government agencies have carried out proposed projects that could help the barangay, such as the proposed budget of Php 20 million for the IP communities.
“The project provides portable water system in the top of the mountain, since some of the Purok has no water line. Also one of the proposed project throughout the Php 20Million budget is the Power Lights. It can help in terms of people’s security in the barangay. I’m looking forward to render the services that the Local or National Government will be given to the barangay. “Biskan diin basta makabulig, dira kita”, Simtim added.
The Barangayanihan Caravan towards National Recovery was organized by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) together with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
This initiative hopes to provide a one-stop-shop for various social services with the aim of bringing the basic services of the different regional line agencies (RLAs) closer to people.
Services provided during the Serbisyo Caravan includes medical consultation, orientation and distribution of seeds and seedlings, Government Internship Program and SPES Application.
Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena expressed his gratitude towards the program and the agencies that support and appreciate it. “We should continue these peace and authority towards unity”, the Mayor said.
Other agencies such as TESDA provided free scholarship grants, while the Philippine National Police catered to the issuance of police clearance and free haircut to the beneficiaries and many more.
