DA Turns Over Road Project to Brgy. Mabini
Amidst the difficulties and the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, another long-awaited dream was fulfilled as the Department of Agriculture Region XII (DA XII) and the City government have formally turned over the PHP12 million Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) Project to the officials of Barangay Mabini this February 2022.
“Our desire is to balance the progress and development by giving more to the rural communities, we will strive to provide an easy access road to the furthest communities.” a pronouncement from City Mayor Eliorodo U. Ogena.
The P12Million project funded by the Department of Agriculture XII (DA II) targets to support farm products of Barangay Mabini.
The FMR has a total length of 600 meters with Slope Protection and will primarily benefit the farmers and other residents who are engaged in high-value crops farming in the area.
“Let me congratulate our partners in the construction of this FMR, the DA XII, the DPWH XII, and the contractors, for a quality work. This is the second concrete road in the area. Once again congratulations to Brgy. Mabini for another milestone that can help your sitio. Tandaan gid ninyo kung gapaningkamot matupa gid ina.” expressed by Congressman Atty. Dinand Fernandez to the residents of brgy. Mabini.
Aside from farmers, among the beneficiaries of the latest FMR project are the residents from Barangay Mabini to some parts of Purok Maligaya, Sitio Siok, where the concrete road passes through the said plaza.
The FMR reduces the travel time of transporting farm products and lessens post-harvest losses and transportation costs, thereby increasing farmers’ income.
“Sa wakas hindi na kami mabudlayan mag-agi lalo na kung tig-ululan, hindi na lutak. Gapasalamat gid ako sing dako sa mga tao kag ahensya nga nagbulig para matupad lang gid nga amon nga dugay na pangandoy” a statement from Barangay Captain Letecia V. Decena in the turn-over ceremony.
During the program, representative of DA XII announced that the DA Regional Office is investing P10 million for the continuation of the road to easily transport the crops and other local products of Siok to markets and communities.
