Indigent senior citizens will receive a UCT grant
“All indigent senior citizens in the City of Koronadal will definitely receive an Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) grant,” City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Officer Haydee Anunciado assured to all concerned senior citizens as they are impatiently anticipating their assistance.
In an interview in “Tingog sa Pagsanyog” City’s FB live program, Anunciado said though no exact date yet for the release, nonetheless, they will be going to take in their annuity before the current year ends considering that other sectors had already obtained similar benefit. She further stated that the delay in the distribution of the said allotment was due to the re-validation conducted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office purposely to affirm the status of the grantees whether they still exist or have moved on to another place.
The officer also made clear that the budget for UCT comes from the national government while DSWD is the one determining and identifying the beneficiaries, and the sole role of their office is to assist the agency concerned during the disbursement.
UCT is a nationwide program where recipients include households in the Pantawid Pampamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Social Pension beneficiaries and another hard-up family in the data of the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR), provided that they fall within the first to seventh deciles or classes.
Meanwhile, following such postponement, Anunciado asked claimants to wait a little more time since the distribution of other benefits such as the social pension will continue which will be restored quarterly. She also said that it is an advantage to the recipients that the support is given gradually so that they do not run out of money.
Currently, the City of Koronadal has 13,000 senior citizens from the previous 11,000 benefactors receiving social pensions and a total of more or less 100 elderly aged 85-99 pocketing cash incentives.
