New CHO building ready to serve Koronadaleños
The new City Health Office (CHO) building is now ready to serve Koronadaleños after it was formally turned over to the administration of the city government.
The said project was made possible through the funds allocated by the office of former South Cotabato 2nd District Congressman Ferdinand Hernandez through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region XII amounting to ₱30,000,000.00 and an additional ₱5,000,000.00 from the Department of Health (DOH) XII.
The aforementioned ₱30,000,000.00 was appropriated for the erection of a new 3-storey building of CHO where the first and second floors are now operational while the third deck is still nonfunctional and the P5M was allotted for the construction of the third floor of an old city health office.
Meanwhile, DOH XII’s assistance to the City Government of Koronadal will continue because this year there is an allocation of ₱13M for the upgrading of the CHO facilities that includes the construction of a radiology building and enhancement of its outmoded and new edifice.
The CHO’s improvement for the new building includes:
►Installation of an elevator;
►Enhancement of clinical working area/laboratory;
►Renovation of consultation and waiting area, existing ramps;
►Construction of septic vault and path walk with canopy.
For the old CHO building:
►Renovation of lying-in on the ground floor of old city health office;
►Installation of glass partition and air-conditioning on the third floor;
►Relocation of an existing electrical system to the proposed electrical room, based on the plan.
“Upang mas mapaganda pa ang serbisyo, we will buy medicines that are needed,” City Mayor Eliordo Ogena assured that the city government will buy more medicines according to people’s needs to make the services even better following the CHO’s notable progress which is now elevated to the first level.
Acting City Health Officer Dr. Vincent Ende, on the other hand, is hoping that the facilities will be accredited by PhilHealth so that we can avail of the “Konsulta Package” of the said agency.
Among the visitors who graced the activity were City Councilors Ellen Grace Subere-Albios, Charene Kristelle Jumilla, Sharmaigne Arianne Sala, and Engr. Khalil D. Sultan-District Engineer, South Cotabato 2nd Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region XII, Dr. Sulpicio Henry Legaspi, Jr.-Director III of the Department of Health (DOH) Region XII, who both guaranteed their support to the LGU, barangay official from Zone IV and more others.
