LGU Koronadal apportioned 850,000.00 cash incentive for SRAA medalist
The Local Government Unit (LGU) Koronadal has apportioned a total of Php850,000.00 cash incentive for the athletes who hauled medals in the recently concluded Soccsksargen Regional Athletic Association (SRAA) 2023 which was held at Kidapawan City.
Four hundred twenty-three (423) individuals will divide the said amount depending on the medals they have garnered which comprises 144 gold, 139 silver, and 140 bronze medalists. Those who snatched the gold medal will receive Php3, 000.00, Php2, 000.00 for the silver, and Php1, 000.00 for the bronze medal.
Further, aside from the players, among those who will take part in the said stimulus are the coaches and chaperones.
Education Program Supervisor, Division Sports Officer Napoleon G. Comicho of the Department of Education (DepEd) Koronadal, on the other hand, proudly announced during his interview in the city’s FB live program “Tingog sang Pagsanyog” on the great advancement of the Koronadal athletes-the Red Armours that despite the city remained in fourth place in the said competition but they were able to bumped-up their previous gold medal tally to 54 which has an increase of 16 golds.
Comicho assumed that because of the backing mechanism of the LGU and stakeholders, team Koronadal was even more inspired to work hard and to consider also the excitement of the face-to-face bout that happened for the first time again after the pandemic. “With the full support ni Mayor Ogena kag stakeholders, kag ang face-to-face nga hampang after pandemic ang nakapa-excite gid sa mga bata amo nga dako gid ang improvement sang ila performance.” Comicho affirmed the statement.
Meanwhile, as athletes return to school following SRAA, the preparations for pre-national qualifying meet 2023 for team events such as basketball girls secondary and basketball boys secondary 3X3 are in full swing, thus, the said activities will be held at Tagum City this coming June 2-10. However, files for group games and individual that are measurable and involve qualifying time was sent to the Palaro board for them to identify and give a final decision on who will be competing in Palarong Pambansa proper on July 27 to August 5, in Marikina City.
Currently, because of the screening process, it is not yet possible to determine the actual number of the city’s athletes that can probably participate in the said sporting events. Comicho explained that the goal is for the government to save money while also limiting the number of people who will join because of the pandemic.
Furthermore, Archery, Volleyball, Football, and Athletics are considered Koronadal’s best sports, according to Comicho. Though the city is also leading in dance sports and gymnastics which the latter counted as being medaled during the recent SRAA, however, the palaro board deals with it as a sports demonstration and even though it is still a contest but it has no bearing on the standing of regular sports events.
