New CADAC action officer pushes city employees to undergo mandatory drug testing
The new City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) action officer Vicente R. De Jesus pushes that city employees will undergo mandatory drug testing as the first initiative to combat prohibited drugs. He believes that the drug campaign program is more effective if it starts in its own yard before going down to the community. “Mas mainam na mag-start tayo from within sa drug campaign bago bumaba sa family, community and whole city,” part of De Jesus’ statement during press conference and Monday’s convocation.
He further said that the city has an ordinance that allows the mandatory drug testing of all city government employees. Apart from the employees, De Jesus also challenged the city officials to do the same to demonstrate the government’s sincere aspiration against illegal drugs. The CADAC action officer is scheduled to discuss the matter with City Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena for the approval of such a recommendation.
De Jesus, on the other hand, assured the due process and bloodless act to fight against unlawful drugs. He also said that his office would work not only for compliance but also for fairness and uprightness because he really wants to help the City of Koronadal’s campaign to be a drug-free city.
Meanwhile, he calls for those who wish to capitulate that his office is ready and willing to assist and facilitate their needs until all drug dependents will be able to live again a normal life.
Currently, as the new CADAC officer, De Jesus is still studying the existing programs of their office to familiarize everything wherein his top priority is to strengthen the Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP).
