City Government of Koronadal lauded for a successful SRAA Meet 2025
The City Government of Koronadal under the dynamic leadership of City Mayor Atty. Eliordo U. Ogena was lauded for the success of the recently concluded SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Athletic Association (SRAA) meet 2025 held in the City of Koronadal as co-host with the Provincial Government of South Cotabato. This weeklong sporting event attended by more than seven thousand delegates from all over the region commenced on the 3rd day of March and successfully concluded on the 7th of March 2025 while the preparations started way before the arrival of the delegates. According to Special Educational Fund (SEF) Focal Person Lani M. Rivera, the city government has allotted a total of 14 million pesos to cover the food, allowances, accommodation of the athletes and their coaches.
In order to make sure that the health condition and the hygiene requirements in every billeting quarter are met, the City Health Office (CHO) conducted thorough inspection, fogging, water sampling and other necessary measures. In terms of food preparation, the city government has ensured that the raw ingredients are purchased fresh and direct from the farm to avoid food poisoning.
The physical preparations also included the venue for the opening and closing programs. Showcasing the best of the city through the Grand Showcase of a Thousand Colors and reflecting its vibrancy in a magnificent fireworks display. In his message, Mayor Ogena made an announcement that added to the smile of the astounded delegates. The city government gave one thousand pesos to every athlete and coach as a token of the city’s hospitality.
In order to boost the morale of our own athletes, the city government gave ₱2,500 allowance to every athlete and their respective coaches. This resulted to a greatly positive impact as the Red Armours garnered a total of 60 gold, 57 silver and 69 gold medals clinching the 3rd spot in the overall results, the first time in the history of the division.
