Tribal Women benefit livelihood assistance from PESO
The local government, in coordination with Indigenous Peoples Mandatory (IPM) Representative Hon. Antonio S. Abing and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) extends its entrepreneurial assistance worth P330,000 to jumpstart the beads making enterprises of 11 Indigenous Women Association in the City of Koronadal.
This livelihood intervention aims to create opportunities for IP Women in protecting and preserving the Blaan tangible culture, as well as to generate employment and increase the household income of the beneficiaries.
All the identified recipients will be provided with a seed capital of P30,000 for the purchase of raw materials and other production inputs. They will also undergo a training and capacity building on Indigenous Knowledge Transfer on Milol Slah or Beads Making.
Meanwhile, PESO Manager Bernardo Taperla affirms to beef up the marketing aspect of the said project by establishing a booth showcasing the products produced by the beneficiaries coming from the different sectors and areas.
“Kakausapin ko naman si tourism o negosyo center to help me sa pag conceptualize ng mga Koronadal City na products especially ng ating mga beneficiaries as part ng marketing component,” he said.
Apart from that, PESO will also be helping them to register their association with the DOLE for its accreditation.
“After maibigay na ang pera, we will be helping them to register their association with the DOLE kasi once na may legal personality, mas marami ang ayuda na darating para sa kanila,” Taperla added.
The selected association of tribal women are all heading from the barangays of Mabini, Esperanza, San Jose, Saravia, San Isidro, Assumption, Paraiso, Magsaysay, Cacub, San Roque and Topland.
