CSWDO: Serving Koronadaleños from ‘womb to tomb’

March 15, 2021

Ushering 2021 with renewed commitment to serve!

“We know that what the CSWDO offers are services from ‘womb to tomb’. Also, we offer  programs for children called CHIPS, our Day Care Program… our Family Welfare Program, where we teach parents about responsible parenting, also focuses on the intensive orientation and organization of Solo Parent Organizations” , City Social Welfare and Development Officer Haydee S. Anunciado, RSW said in an interview.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office is currently managing five (5) service facilities to include the  Children Health Intervention and Protective Service Center, Bahay Pag-asa, Women Health Intervention and Protection Service Center, Senior Citizen Center and the Day Care Centers.

According to CSWDO Anunciado, due to the pandemic, couples have been given the opportunity to re-establish a relationship that has resulted in fewer cases of violence against women. Meanwhile, the number of complaints about the lack or delay in providing child support increased this year. Due to the pandemic, many have lost their jobs and cannot afford to provide child support.

On the other hand, out of 25 Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) housed in Bahay Pag-asa last year the number dropped to 11 this year. “Bahay Pag-asa is a transformation facility managed by the CSWDO. I am thankful to the Lord for His heavenly intervention. We all know that the CICL has different personalities and crimes committed and that their reformation has been a great challenge to us, but it has been our goal, through the help of our spiritual counselors, to bring them to the knowledge and wisdom of the Lord Jesus Christ”, Anunciado said. Following the release of the court order, 11 CICLs are now reunited with their families and are being monitored by the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children. Also said CICL was able to graduate in the ALS program, some are continuing their senior high school and others are already working.

In the meantime, enrolment at the Day Care Centers has increased. According to Anunciado, parents were excited to teach their children the module, as it gave them the opportunity to become a parent to their children.

The Office for Senior Citizens’ Affairs is also an office under the supervision of the CSWDO. With the provision of an incentive ordinance for senior citizens and the release of a social pension, the Office ensures that nobody is left behind.

With its limited resources and workforce, the year 2021 will undoubtedly bring new challenges and opportunities, but the CSWDO ensures that its dedicated public service is consistent with the public and that its staff will remain committed to serving.

Being at the forefront of the public service, usually referred to as the heart of the government, they will never waver to provide assistance from the nutrition of unborn babies through 4Ps to burial – heartily keeping their mandate to serve from “womb to tomb”.
