City Sports resumes 11th Summer Training Festival
“Tuloy ang aton nga Summer Training Festival,” bared City Sports Development Officer III Jonathan Enmanuel on the resumption of the city-initiated sporting event slating this coming April 12 to May 31.
Enmanuel, however, said, “Pero may ara sang limitations in accordance sa IATF protocol and under the supervision of the LGU. Ang mga programa hindi na pareha dati nga damo sports and arts discipline. Subong medyo controlled and generally non-contact sports.”
In this year’s training fest, 16 sports and arts discipline combined will be included in the roster, such as archery, arnis, badminton, chess, gymnastics, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, vlogging/photography, music, visual arts, journalism, filmmaking, speech & personality development, and hip hop.
The officer said that his office is not only focusing on developing a certain aspect. Moreover, its vision is to develop the youth’s holistic well-being, which is the mental, social, physical and spiritual aspects.
He also added that they would prioritize accommodating the Out-of-School Youth (OSY), for they are the people who have no outlet, especially during this time of the pandemic.
“Kay kung i-check ang suicidal cases, mas damo tung wala mga klase. This is now the time nga ang emphasis and tuon sang programa kay mga OSY nga nag-untat o nag decide nga hndi anay magskwela,” Enmanuel stated.
During the enrollment, parents and participants will be given an orientation regarding the said activity, and they will be handing over a ‘health declaration form’ signifying that they allow their children to enroll despite the pandemic.
All participants must be at least 8-18 years of age, except for filmmaking that will cater to only ages 15-21. Furthermore, slots were only limited to up to 30 individuals per class, and a ‘first come, first serve’ policy is in place for enrollment.
The enrollment period is set to run from March 29 to April 9 at the City Sports Office.
