LGU-Kor joins “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan” Advocacy Program
LGU-Koronadal, in collaboration with the DILG and the men in uniforms, supported the government’s new anti-drug campaign dubbed “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan” (BIDA) program during its nationwide simultaneous grand launching last November 26 at the Rizal Park of the City.
The BIDA Program is a nationwide advocacy program which is an intensified and holistic campaign which aims to reduce drug demand through empowering communities by engaging them in anti-illegal drug activities, raising public awareness on the ill-effects of drugs to reduce drug proliferation and destigmatize drug addiction in the community.
The program featured a motorcade caravan and a unity walk in which over a hundred people from various government, non-government, and religious organizations took part.
The Provincial Department of Interior and Local Government (PDILG), the City Philippine National Police (PNP), the South Cotabato Philippine National Police, the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), the Federation Citizens Crime Watch Special Task Force- Koronadal Chapter Group (FCCW-STF), and students from the National Service Training Program (NSTP) were among those present.

The activity is in line with a strategic framework, MKK=K which stands for Malasakit, Kaayusan, Kapayapaan tungo sa Kaunlaran and the KASIMBAYANAN (Kapulisan, Simbahan at Pamayanan) Program.
City Mayor Ogena proudly shares that the Koronadal City Government is currently handling the rehabilitation of recovering drug addicts by providing CBRP and after care sessions where counselors provide proper guidance and are ready to help them through drug rehabilitation and other business and livelihood training programs to help them lead productive and drug-free lives.
Not only the City of Koronadal has participated but also three (3) municipalities participated in the advocacy, the towns of Tantangan, Tupi and Tampakan, and with the full support of the 1st and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Companies (PMFC).
The DILG South Cotabato is present in the occasion to give thanks and support in the campaign, Mr. Bong Suwaib, the representative of Atty. Rochelle Mahinay-Sero DILG-South Cotabato Provincial Directorโwe are all in this together, let’s work together to fight drugs’. Suwaib said.
The BIDA Program is a nationwide anti-illegal drugs advocacy program that involves local government units (LGUs), national government agencies (NGAs), and other key sectors of society to better focus on drug demand reduction and rehabilitation in communities that emphasizing the role of drug enforcement agencies including the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

During the Closing Program, the City Philippine National Police and the South Cotabato Philippine National Police performed a Mob Dance number titled Life Is Beautiful.
