Government’s livelihood initiatives continues
The City Government of Koronadal through the initiative of the City Social Welfare and Development Office or CSWDO continues its valiant efforts to provide its constituents equal opportunity to poverty alleviation in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development or DSWD Region XII. These initiatives come in form of monetary subsidies as well as livelihood programs.
The most recent manifestation of these initiatives took place last 10th of October 2024 during the Enhanced Support Services Intervention or ESSI payout at the lobby of the city hall building. According to City Social Welfare and Development Officer Jennifer Magbanua, ESSI is a program sponsored by DSWD to those selected Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) members who are already approaching the self-sufficient level. A total of 135 selected indigent individuals who are also beneficiaries of the 4Ps from 27 barangays in the city benefited from the distribution.
Each of the beneficiaries received a total amount of ₱13,642 cash assistance which will be allocated to their proposed business projects. Aside from the monetary assistance, the government also distributed 1 sack of rice, food packs and livestock goats from DSWD.
During the distribution, City Mayor Atty. Eliordo U. Ogena expressed his gratitude to the social workers from DSWD XII for their relentless efforts to support the LGU in providing basic services to its constituents especially those who belong to the grassroots level. The official then asked the beneficiaries to use the amount that they received properly for in order to build a stable source of income. Mayor Ogena also posted a challenge to those who will be able to yield profit from the program to come to his office as he will give them additional cash incentives.
