City’s DAPC weeklong observance concluded with several recognitions received
The culmination of city’s Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) weeklong observance highlighted by several recognitions from South Cotabato Provincial Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (PDAC).
Through the earnest determination of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) headed by CADAC Action Officer Vicente R. De Jesus, the City of Koronadal was recognized as having high functional Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) following its commendable efforts in the execution of its duties in harmonizing the national government’s anti-illegal drug campaign. The said endeavors contributed to an optimistic outcome during this year’s ADAC performance audit which garnered 100% functionality points.
Thus, due to its excellent implementation, it is considered a significant mechanism that is anticipated to make a remarkable contribution getting higher points in the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) evaluation, specifically in the aspect of peace and order status.
SGLG, on the other hand, is one of the national government’s programs that confer on Local Government Units (LGUs) adherent to performance criteria in the following areas: good financial housekeeping, disaster preparedness, social protection for the basic sector, business friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management, and law and order and public safety.
Aside from the above-mentioned accolade, the city also bagged ₱6,000.00 as second place in the PDAC theme-making contest while another additional ₱5,000.00 as a consolation prize in a short film-making contest on drug-abuse prevention and control week.
Additionally, to increase the level of awareness in combating prohibited drugs, during the conduct of the DAPC celebration, the CADAC initiated various activities that included motorcade, radio hopping to different stations, and simultaneous drug symposiums spearheaded by the Department of Education (DepEd) Koronadal.
The participation of 27 barangays that support the CADAC program through the activation of their Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) was also acknowledged during the opening of the said program followed by a press conference in collaboration with PADAC, seminar-workshop on anti-illegal drugs participated by campus journalists, posting of stickers with hotline numbers of Koronadal City PNP and CADAC, zumba kontra droga and tree planting activity.
As DAPC commemoration winded up, CADAC Action Officer De Jesus vowed to continue battling against illegal drugs that will focus on to how to avoid it. “CADAC is campaigning for prevention that considered as the best option, Kung mapipigilan ang droga wala nang ma-rehab,” De Jesus said. The strategy that the CADAC action officer wanted to enforce is also supported by the City Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena.
