SP-Koronadal Approves 2025 Annual Search for Most Outstanding Indigenous Peoples Model Family

The members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) have recently approved the Ordinance Enacting the 2025 Annual Search for the Most Outstanding Indigenous Peoples (IP) Model Family in the City of Koronadal.
This ordinance, which showcases the city’s commitment to recognizing and celebrating its IP communities, was authored by Councilor Ellen Grace Subere-Albios and Councilor Antonio S. Abing, the Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representive (IPMR) in the sanggunian.
The program aims to recognize and honor exemplary IP families in the City of Koronadal who embody strong family values, cultural preservation, and active community involvement.
The city-wide search will identify families best representing the city’s IP communities. A comprehensive and fair evaluation will be conducted by the City IP Model Family Evaluation Committee. The committee includes representatives from the different departments of the city government and various sectors – the IPMR, representatives from the City Social Welfare and Development, City Information, City Health, City Agriculture, the Department of Education (City Division), the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Accredited Religious Sector, the SP-Committee on Women, Children, and Family Relations, the SP-Committee on Social Services, the IP Structure Head (City Level), and an IP Youth Representative.
The committee’s responsibilities include the execution of the program, the preparation and submission of the official result to the focal office, the evaluation and assessment of the program as well as formulation of innovation ensuring the program’s efficiency, and policy recommendations to further enhance the program.
Meanwhile, in order to be eligible, the nominee families must meet the following criteria:
- Both parents must be pure-blooded members of a particular IP community and legally married;
- The children must also be legally married, whether their spouses are IPs or non-IPs;
- The children of the nominee, if school age, must be in school, except for those with congenital defects or physical or mental conditions;
- The parents of the nominee family must be residents of the participating barangay for at least five (5) consecutive years;
- No member of the nominee family has been convicted by their respective Indigenous Political Structure of any violation of their customary laws or by any regular court of any criminal, civil, or administrative case at the time of the evaluation; and
- The family must have a stable or regular source of income.
The Evaluation Committee shall appraise the nominees of each barangay with an organized IPs community based on the standards provided and on the schedule set by the committee.
Each barangay will conduct the screening, evaluation and selection of its nominee family to represent them at the city level.
The Most Outstanding IP Model Family will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Quality of relationships between and among husband, wife, and children – (20%)
- Quality of persons, (ethical behaviour/credibility/integrity, physical and mental capability, spiritual formation, and educational attainment of family members) – (20%)
- Ability to manage resources – (15%)
- Involvement in community development activities – (15%)
- Quality of condition at home (10%)
- Cultural preservation and promotion – (20%).
Prizes await the winning IP model families:
• 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 – P50,000 and a plaque
• 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫-𝐔𝐩 – P40,000 and a plaque
• 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫–𝐔𝐩 – P30,000 and a plaque
All other nominee families will receive P10,000 and a plaque. Additionally, a special award of P5,000 will be given to family garnering the highest Facebook (FB) views and reactions on the city government’s official FB page.
All IP Model Family nominees, except those who have received major awards, are qualified to join in the next annual search.
