State of the art cemetery soon to rise in Koronadal
With the old public cemetery is full and with no more space for deceased Koronadaleños, the local government started building a new memorial park in Barangay Mabini, Koronadal City.
The said park aims to provide the people with a new and improved public cemetery at an affordable price.
For the initial construction and site development this year, an amount of PHP4.1million was allocated by the city government. The construction started last 2019 and once the proposed Total Resource Annual Investment Program (TRAIP) for 2022 is approved, the full-swing site development can begin next year.
Once completed, the cemetery, which is constructed in the 50,000 square meter lot owned by the local government, will offer amenities to include a chapel, 2,880 niches apartment, 4,000 Slots of proposed Columbarium and Ossuary, and 1,740 slots of Ground burial plots. It will also have a Tree Park, Admin Building, Wastewater Treatment Facility, Materials Recovery Facilities (MRF), and Toilets.
“If the appropriate funding is approved by the City Council, we can make this Memorial Park a one Economic Enterprise that we can be really proud of as Koronadaleños”, Bonn Ryan Aloot, City Economic Enterprise Development Officer-in-Charge said in an interview.
The Total cost to build the whole Memorial Park is yet to be determined by the Technical Working Group made up of the City Economic Enterprise Development Office (CEEDO), City Environment and Natural Resource Office, and City Architect Office.
With the new project, City Government hopes to offer the population a worthy place of interment.
