Another Regional Office will soon rise in the City of Koronadal
The Commission on Population and Development Regional Office XII, which is currently located in Cotabato City, has manifested its intention to transfer and establish its Regional Administrative building in the city.
In Resolution No. 9, Series of 2022, authored by Hon. Prechie Louella B. Ogoy, Chair, Committee on Human Rights, Justice and Legal Matters and on joint sponsorship of the members of the same committee, the Sangguniang Panlungsod has authorized City Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement between the City Government of Koronadal and the Commission on Population and Development Regional Office XII.
Meanwhile, in support to the proposal of the said agency, the City Government of Koronadal, through a usufruct agreement, has allocated more or less one thousand square meters (1,000 sq.m.) of land located at the New City Hall Site covered by Transfer Certificate of Title No. T-109629 for a period of twenty-five (25) years.
The said lots are described as “Lot 1, PLS-246-D (PART-POPCOM XII-1)” containing an area of more or less Five Hundred (500) square meters and “Lot 1, PLS-246-D (PART-POPCOM XII-2)” containing an area of more or less Five Hundred (500) square meters.
Because of its strategic location, Koronadaleňos and people from the neighboring towns and cities in SOCCSKSARGEN area will be able to experience a more accessible, convenient and efficient way of doing business and availing the services of the said agency.
The Commission on Population, as the country’s lead agency which promotes the population activities, is mandated as the over-all coordinating, monitoring and policy-making body of the population programs such as Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP), Adolescent Health and Development (AHD), Population Development and Integration (POPDEV), Gender and Development (GAD) and Special Population Group (SPG), among others.
With its transfer, the said office will be joining other government agencies which have already established their regional offices in the city.
The City of Koronadal became the regional center of SOCCSKSARGEN Region by virtue of Executive Order No. 304 issued by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on March 30, 2004.
