LGU-Kor launches free CS Exam Review to its Employees
The City Government of Koronadal has launched its first ever free Comprehensive Civil Service Eligibility Examination Review for its one hundred (100) employees who are qualified to take the Civil Service Examination scheduled on June 19, 2022.
The Civil Service Examination (CSE) is one of the most taken exams in the country. If a person wishes to apply for a position in the government service, he or she must pass the exam in order to be eligible. However, obtaining Civil Service eligibility is not as simple as taking a simple test, as some believe it is as difficult as taking the board examination. Meanwhile, proper mental preparation should be taken seriously in order to easily pass the exam.
This is why, in collaboration with the City Human Resource Management Office (CHRMO), the City Government of Koronadal has developed a program that provides a free Comprehensive Civil Service Eligibility Examination Review to some of its permanent and casual employees, as well as job order workers.
The first batch of CS Exam takers is undergoing a free CSE Review for eight (8) consecutive Saturdays, which started last April 23 and will end on June 11, 2022, at the Audio Visual Room (AVR) of Koronadal National Central High School, thanks to the Learning and Development Section of CHRMO.
The program aims to broaden the employee’s employment opportunities in the government service by assisting them in obtaining civil service eligibility. This is also one way of assisting employees with sub-professional eligibility to advance to professional level and receive a promotion if any job opportunities arise in the future.
According to the Civil Service Commission, there are two levels of eligibility: CSE Professional and Sub-Professional. The former grants a successful CS Exam passer second level eligibility, qualifying him or her for a second level position, whereas the latter qualifies him or her for clerical and custodial service roles in the government.
During her live interview in the city government’s weekly development program, “Tingog sa Pagsanyog”, CHRMO Department Head I Hazel A. Lebanan stressed that through the concerted efforts of their office together with the Office of the City Mayor, they have come up with the review because they believe that there is really a need to conduct one for the city employees.
“Looking into the total the workforce of our employees, there’s really a need and a lot are in need of Civil Service Eligibility. So good enough with the consistent follow-ups, we are given one hundred slots by the Civil Service Commission. In partnership with the Office of the City Mayor and CHRMO, we have successfully conducted this free review class”.
Mary Frances M. Calvis, a first-time CS Examinee and casual employee for the Office of the City Mayor, expressed gratitude to the city government for launching such an initiative that benefited employees like her. She also thanked the CHRMO for spearheading such a program and easing their preparations for the upcoming CS Examination.
“We are very thankful to the city government through the CHRMO for giving us this opportunity. This is the first time that the city government offered free CS review and we are very grateful but at the same time pressured. So, we have to give our best to pass the exam because the city government has done so much for us.”
She went on to say that the lecturers are very impressive. The techniques they were taught are extremely practical and useful.
“During our Math session, we have learned a lot especially with the techniques being shared to us by our lecturers. They were very helpful wherein we can easily solve a particular problem given a limited time”, Calvis added.
Meanwhile, the CHRMO has carefully selected competent resource persons and lecturers to ensure that our exam takers will be able to learn a lot from the review. They are well-versed and knowledgeable in their respective fields of study and academic concentration.
