Koronadal bags 5 awards in CMCI 2021

The City of Koronadal received five (5) awards from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) during the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) 2021 held last March 24, 2022 at Cinco Niñas, City of Koronadal.

It is an annual ranking of the Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development.

It is a program which encourages LGUs to gather and submit data used to measure their performance based on the four pillars: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, and Resiliency.

This year, Koronadal ranked 23rd Place for Overall Most Competitive City under the component cities category. The City continues to progress with the following awards:

Once again, City of Koronadal was hailed as 4th place with a score of 15.6425 in the “Most Resilient Component City” in the Philippines. Among the top list are the cities of Calapan in Oriental Mindoro, Tagum of Davao Del Norte on the 2nd spot, and Naga of Camarines Sur at 3rd.

Rankings are based on the sum of their scores on 4 Pillars.

For Government Efficiency, the city placed 24th. According to the CMCI, this pillar refers to the quality and reliability of government services and government support for effective and sustainable productive expansion.

Meanwhile, the city ranked 13th place as the “Most Improved City” under the component cities category in the country.

Lastly, Koronadal City made it to the 26th place in Economic Dynamism. This is associated with activities that result in the steady expansion of businesses and industries, as well as increased employment.

The City Government of Koronadal wishes to thank the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index, the Department of Trade and Industry 12, and the Regional Competitiveness Coordinating Committee for this honor.

For this year’s awarding in 2022, CMCI introduces a new competitiveness pillar, innovation, which focuses on an LGU’s use of new technology and adoption of innovative policies and programs to ease business processing, improve productivity, and financial depth, among other things.
