Koronadal City COP Bares 5-Month Accomplishment Report

January 31, 2023

Koronadal City Chief of Police, P/Lt Col. Amor Mio I. Somine, presented his five-month accomplishments during the Flag Raising Ceremony and Monday Convocation held on January 30, 2023, at the City Hall Lobby.

In his speech, Somine said that for the past five months of being the Chief of Police (COP) of the Koronadal City Police Station (KCPS), he has been able to level up their performance in achieving the mission and vision of the PNP Organization by becoming more efficient and competent in terms of its administrative and operational mechanisms, programs, and best practices.

Under his new leadership, with twenty-five (25) anti-illegal drug operations conducted, they have arrested thirty-four (34) drug personalities and confiscated a total of 162.86 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, also known as “Shabu,” with a standard market value of 1,100,000.00 million pesos, of which fifty-one (51) of these cases were already filed in court.

As part of its commitment to strengthen its campaign against wanted persons, the City PNP has successfully arrested several Most Wanted Persons under Somine’s watch.

“The dedication and commitment to bring justice to the victim are one of the aims of Koronadal City Police Station, which strengthens the campaign against wanted persons. This resulted in 46 total operations, and 46 wanted persons were arrested. Out of that, 34 are regular wanted persons, and 12 are most wanted persons,”, Somine proudly announced.

Further, the KCPS has been aggressive in its fight against loose firearms as well as traffic-related incidents, shootings, robberies, and other street crimes.

According to the COP, as part of their relentless and aggressive campaign against loose firearms, they have arrested eight (8) suspects and confiscated short firearms, which are all caliber 45 pistols. Aside from that, they successfully completed “Operation Katok,” in which 37 unrenewed firearms were surrendered and deposited for safekeeping while their License to Own and Possess Firearm (LTOPF) renewal is still in process.

During the last quarter of 2022, some shooting incidents and street crimes were reported. To properly address said incidents and future occurrences of these focus crimes in the city, the PNP has come up with a strategy called “Oplan Layang-Layang.”

“With the conduct of the said operation by the KCPS personnel, with the aid of the law enforcement agencies and other advocacy support groups, it resulted in a minimal eight (8) focus crimes, other street crimes, and most especially the shooting incidents and robbery incidents being reduced,”  Somine explained.

On the other hand, the City PNP Chief admitted that vehicular accidents in the city are relatively high. To address this concern, the city’s PNP personnel have undergone a series of seminars to become deputized personnel of the Land Transportation Office, with the goal of reducing, if not preventing, the number of vehicular accidents that cause injuries and even death.

With its continuous efforts to solve said crimes and deal with the vehicular traffic incidents in the city, Somine stated that out of the thirty-seven (37) crime incidents, thirty-five (35) have already been resolved and two (2) are still under investigation, while a total of one thousand two hundred thirty (1,230) motorcycles were impounded due to traffic-related violations. With these results, Somine said that the KCPS has recorded 93% crime clearance efficiency as per crime incidents and 97% clearance efficiency in terms of traffic incidents.

Meanwhile, the city’s PNP Chief gladly shared that his several requests for additional personnel have finally been approved by the Regional and Provincial Police Office.  According to Somine, from only ninety-seven (97) PNP personnel, it has gone up to one hundred twenty-nine (129), which is of great help to improve the depleted strength of their station.

“It was a great help in the maintenance of peace and order, extending police assistance in the community and assisting the local government in the delivery of much-needed government services,” Somine stressed.

With the unwavering support of the City Government of Koronadal, the private sector, other law enforcement agencies, and advocacy support groups to Koronadal City PNP, Somine expressed his deep gratitude towards them.  He likewise urged everyone to continuously work hand in hand to achieve a much safer and more peaceful City of Koronadal.

Somine was officially installed as the Chief of Police of the City of Koronadal on August 26, 2022, replacing P/LtCol Joedy Lito Guisinga.
