PhilHealth XII, another city’s breakthrough to spire

February 21, 2023

“PhilHealth is a landmark building based on the design, I expect that this landmark building will add beauty to our small city with a big dream.” Koronadal City Mayor Atty. Eliordo U. Ogena commented following the presentation of PhilHealth Regional Office (PRO) XII proposed structure which is considered another breakthrough that is about to spire very soon in the city’s prime regional center in Barangay Carpenter Hill.

“With the completion of A&E design, the construction will commence within 18 months as stipulated in the deed of donation,” PhilHealth Regional Vice President Hector Zenon Leonardo P. Malate, MD, said during the recent signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) as he expressed his appreciation of the joint effort of the legislative and executive body in the realization of the said project which was initially postponed in 2019 due to the pandemic.

Dr. Malate believes that to provide quality healthcare services to the public, the office must be bigger, more comfortable, and more convenient.

PhilHealth Acting President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel R. Ledesma, Jr. also conveyed his gratitude yearning that the PRO XII project will be completed with no interference as they are realizing its extended aspiration to raise their own regional office. “The PRO XII is on accomplishing its long desire to build its own regional office, hoping this time has no hindrance in achieving the project.”

The Gen. Santos City-based agency was transferred to this city after the release of Executive Order (EO) No. 304, s. of 2004 of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, mandating the transfer of all departments, bureaus, and offices of the national government in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region as the regional seat of operations to the City of Koronadal.

Meanwhile, PRO XII’s 23-year-long renting space will come to an end as a lot area measuring 2,089 sqm is waving to them. At present, the project is still on the bidding process with an allocation of Php31,000,000.00.

Further, aside from the aforementioned officials, who also witnessed the MOA signing were City Councilors Ellen Grace Subere-Albios, Johnrey Rodriguez, City Engr. Ruel Tianchon and City Information Officer Romar Olivares for the City LGU while for PRO XII, these include Exec. Vice Pres. and Chief Operating Officer Atty. Eli Dino D. Santos and Area Vice President for Area IV-Mindanao Gregorio C. Rulloda and among others.
