Trinidad clinched triumph as the newly elected SK Federation President

November 15, 2023

More improved, more inclusive and more accessible programs for the youth. These are the promises set forth by the newly elected Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation President Charles Ronn C. Trinidad after winning the election yesterday, November 14. Trinidad will serve as an ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlungsod and will now assume a central role in liaising between the SK councils across the city and collaborating with local government officials.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by the youth in the city, Trinidad outlined key priorities for his term as the SK Federation President – to create and implement projects through a multi-sectoral lens, support entrepreneurs and create youth centers to cater to the youths’ needs and suggestions. He also emphasized the importance of supporting local farmers, as his father, Ronnie Esimos Trinidad, was a farmer.

Trinidad won the election yesterday after leading the 14-13 votes against SK Chairman-elect John Benedict Quirao. Joining him in his slate are Vice President-elect Anthony O. Balasabas, Kaye Angeli Maido (Secretary), Edryl John Mark Basan (Treasurer), Patrick Rey Cahigao (Auditor), Ivy Grace D. Cuencia (Public Relations Officer) and Mecho Caday and Ryan Duarte (Sergeant-at-Arms).

The SK Fed President expressed his gratitude to all the people who have supported and guided him since day one, saying that he could not have done it without their help. “Madamo gid nga salamat sa endless support… sa akon Papa nga nagsuporta since day 1, sa relatives, friends, supporters…” [Thank you so much for the endless support… to my Papa who supported me since day one, to my relatives, friends, [and] supporters].

On the other hand, during the oath taking ceremony that took place after the election, City Mayor Atty. Eliordo U. Ogena congratulated the rest of the SK Federation Officials. He said, “I would like to congratulate all of you for making the process work. You will be carrying the collective voice of not only the 27 barangays which you represented but the collective voice of the young people of this beloved city.”  In his speech, he encouraged the SK Chairpersons to be united because as he said, Bagong Koronadal is not just a catchphrase nor just reflected on the infrastructure of the city but rather, a system that needs continuous polishing. He further added that since the process of this election has concluded, one should respect the result and move forward into the betterment of the city.

Prior to being elected as the SK Chairperson and later as the SK Federation President, Trinidad had several engagements in the leadership sphere that honed his skills. These are as follows:
